eMain Team Meetings and Reports

 

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is proposing to expand its current Information Technology program. JCPS is evaluating eMain USA as a location to house staff associated with this program and to provide continuing technology training.

 

Bellarmine University's Center for eWorld Education seminar "Leadership in the New Economy" began October 6, 2000. Seminar Registration is closed, but opportunities are available for guest participation in sessions with best selling author Po Bronson, and author and Princeton University Professor Dr. Edward Tenner.

 

Clock Tower ñ Has begun communicating with potential tenants. The Clock Tower building will house several technology companies and provide extensive support services for eMain.

 

 

Leadership Louisville

 

Leadership Louisville hosted a conference on September 28. One of the breakout sessions featured a panel discussion on "eMain: Growing the Midwest Hub for e-commerce." Overwhelming interest was apparent by the filled-to-capacity crowd that attended for an update about eMainUSA.Ý Three panelists told the story:

 

1.      Bruce Traughber, Louisville Development Authority, discussed eMain's milestones including five real-estate developments that are currently underway in eMain. Bruce highlighted the public/private partnership and market-driven approach.

 

2.      John Cranor, Bellarmine University, discussed Bellarmine University's Center for eWorld Education and its first seminar "Leadership in the New Economy" which began October 6 in the Humana Waterside Building at eMain.

 

3.      Keith Williams, bCatalyst, discussed why eMain is important to driving the entrepreneurial spirit in Louisville and accelerating start-up companies. bCatalyst is operating at 111 Washington Street at eMain.

Old store to house offices

September 6

A partnership called Cobalt Ventures is moving on two fronts to help redevelop the eastern edge of downtown Louisville.Ý Cobalt has purchased the old three-story Schiller Hardware building on the northwest corner of Market and Jackson streets. It plans to convert the upper two floors to offices, with a restaurant on the ground level.

This being Kentucky, it had to happen. Kentucky Virtual University, the state's electronic portal to a higher education without lecture halls, dorms or cafeteria food, has a sports franchise.

Internet firms form `eBusiness' marketing alliance

September 29

Four Louisville firms that specialize in different areas of Web-based business have joined together in a marketing alliance known as the "eBusiness Alliance." Win.Net Business Internet, Infocon Systems, Xpressions Interactive Inc. and The Mirazon Group have teamed up to refer business to each other. The four firms unveiled their new alliance with a one-day seminar last week; more seminars are planned for November and next year

Clock Tower Building to get facelift, will house e-commerce center

The renovated building is to be the cornerstone of Mayor Dave Armstrong's eMain USA program, which seeks to develop the East Main corridor as a center for technology-related companies.

Louisville group looks at Austin's conversion to high-tech juggernaut

Each year, Greater Louisville Inc. puts together a trip to another community, where Louisville business, education and civic leaders get a crash course on what makes the host city tick. 130 folks from the Louisville area heard about Austin's transformation from a town dependent on state government offices and the university into an economic juggernaut in less than 20 years.
