eMain Team Meeting and Reports

Clock Tower Building

On October 24, the Louisville Board of Alderman approved a $5.7 million loan to Humana Inc. to renovate the Clock Tower Building at Main and Brook Streets. Bruce Traughber, the city's development chief, said the building should be ready for its first tenants by next fall. Humana plans to lease the renovated space at or below market rate -- and only to high-tech businesses or educational efforts supporting them.

Waterfront Park Place

Site work for Waterfront Park Place is currently underway. The design approval is expected to be complete by October 25.

Parking

The Waterfront Development Board met on October 25 for final review of Cobalt Ventures LLCís proposed parking lot, which will be located at Floyd/Washington/Witherspoon/Preston Streets. Once completed, costs are expected to be competitive with surrounding parking.

Snead Building

Groundbreaking for the redevelopment of the Snead Building is scheduled for October 27 at 1:30 p.m. The renovated building will include a glass blowing factory on the ground floor and 45-50 loft apartments on the upper floors.

Louisville is on the move; needs to pick a direction

October 6

(Note:Ý Excerpts from a speech by Jonathan Spector, Darwin Networks chief executive officer, delivered at Leadership Louisville's fifth annual Leadership Conference on Sept. 28.) The New Economy has many different definitions, but for the purpose of today's discussion let's assume it means the Internet, e-commerce, and high-tech all rolled into one. In the New Economy, companies that are nimble, flexible and fast moving will beat out companies that are not.
