eMain Neighborhood Team Meeting and Reports

 

Clock Tower

The renderings for the completed Clock Tower Building were presented. There will be a two-story mezzanine lobby at its Washington Street entrance. A technology theme will be seen throughout the building. Bi-weekly photographs of the construction are now being posted to the eMain Neighborhood web site. Anyone interested in the renovation can now follow the progress.

 

Street Scape

The landscape and architecture firm that is working on Main Street will survey Floyd and Preston Streets and the Market-Main Street loop where light rail may be developed. Also the weekend of the 16th and 17th the intersection at Main and 2nd Street at the Clark Memorial Bridge will be closed, Public Works will be designing a giant brick Fleur De Lis in the middle of the intersection at the entrance to the bridge.

 

BCatalyst

The construction of bCatalyst's new building is complete. Tours are to begin in mid April.

DSL access in works for 57 cities

In what one information-technology expert called "extremely big news" for Kentucky, BellSouth announced plans to expand high-speed DSL Internet access to 57 communities across the state this year. Gov. Paul Patton and other dignitaries from around the state hailed the hailed the expansion at a press conference in Frankfort yesterday. "It doesn't mean we're going to knock a home run, but it means we're in the game and have a chance for a home run," Patton said.

EMergINT, U of L coming to MedCenter One

Louisville Mayor David Armstrong announced Thursday that eMergINT Technologies Inc. would move its health data operations to MedCenter One from Norcross, Ga., an Atlanta suburb.

Two U of L entities form e-commerce business lab

Two University of Louisville organizations have come together to offer a computer laboratory to startups and existing companies looking to develop their e-commerce presence. The e-Commerce Lab at the Information Technology Resource Center on the university's Shelby Campus features 10 IBM computers, all with sophisticated software that has logistics and data-mining applications. The lab is the brainchild of U of L's Logistics and Distribution Institute (LoDI).

Unnamed developer plans to buy old railroad bridge
An undisclosed developer has signed a contract to buy the old Big Four Bridge and plans to convert it into a cross river.
