Meeting and Reports
Clock Tower Building
Construction continues to move along.
The city is moving forward on public
streetscape improvements, with an emphasis focused in high activity
areas. The Mayor and Aldermen approved the budget for these improvements.
Work
is proceeding near Louisville's waterfront on one of the nation's
most elaborate parks for "extreme sports." The planned
locations of some features of the "X-Treme Sports Game Park"
have been moved around to accommodate a pillar that someday may
be built on the site to support a ramp leading to a new downtown
Ohio River bridge. The first phase of the park, for which the
city has budgeted $2.5 million, is due to be completed next spring.

Handheld devices give
workers leg up
Aramark’s
use of wireless technologies in an old-line business is just one
example of how wireless is changing workplaces — and, many say,
improving them. Twenty percent of the U.S. workforce is mobile,
and those employees will be able to do their jobs more effectively
by having access to company records from the road.
Living wirelessly
Randy
and Martha Eshleman believe that they have found the formula for
family harmony with their teens: five cell phones plus two pagers.
The Eshleman teens are representative of what marketers and demographers
are starting to call Generation W — a wireless generation at ease
with the latest technology and contributing to a new family dynamic
that's far more mobile yet far more connected than in the past.
