Why East Main?
Historically, East Main Streets strategic location adjacent to the Ohio River made it the perfect launching point for exploration and new commerce. Now, instead of the Ohio River, a river of fiber optic infrastructure has made eMain once again a hot location for old and new types of commerce. |
The eMain district is attracting companies that use technology, including eBusinesses (web-based businesses), eCommerce (divisions or joint ventures by companieswhose primary business is not technology-based) and eServices (ISPs, web designers, and technology firms).
Assisting entrepreneurs and small businesses are the Enterprise Corporation and the Greater Louisville Small Business Development Center, both located at the Enterprise Center inside the Clock Tower Building. And just down the street from the Enterprise Center, at the corner of Brook and Jefferson Streets, the University of Louisville's Information Technology Center (iTRC) incubator and MetaCyte Business Labs, a life sciences incubator, are offering space and additional business services to fast-growth start-ups. |
